I scanned this cute dickey pattern and article from a 1940s sewing booklet and thought I'd share!
I can't honestly say that I've had a lot of opportunities in my life to wear a dickey, but I do like a peter pan collar. (there's also a plain collar pattern too)

Friday's comin'. Whew.

I remember dickies. They were very popular, although I don't think I ever wore one. You have a good start on summery sewing with that cute checked dress. School will be out soon, and maybe you'll find some time for yourself. Summer passes fast though.
ReplyDeleteI find dickies hilarious for some reason - I don't think I could wear one and not just laugh at myself the whole time. Also makes me think of Jude Law's character in the Talented Mr. Ripley... Hmmmmmmm... Something to giggle about and thoughts of Jude Law?! This dicky idea may be growing on me after all :D
ReplyDeleteDickies - wow. I can only think of Howard from The Big Bang Theory... :)
ReplyDeleteThis is wondeful. I would like to link to this in an upcoming piece - I am making a dickie! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIf you have a sweater or dress that is a little cold in the winter due to openness at the neckline, a dickey may be just what you need to make it more wearable. Dickeys can give style to a plain sweater or sweatshirt. And they can add variety to your wardrobe.
